The Epidemiology of Malignant Germ Cell Tumors: The EUROCARE Study

Germ cell tumors (GCTs) comprise a heterogeneous group of tumors in terms of histology, age at diagnosis, anatomical site and prognosis. Here we describe the epidemiology of GCT on the basis of data from European population-based cancer registries (CRs) analysed in the framework of the EUROCARE (European Cancer Registrybased study on survival and care of cancer patients) project, which has monitored cancer patients’ survival since 1978 (www.eurocare.it).
